TEV monitors the LA Times Book Review. Bookdwarf, the Boston Globe’s books coverage. Conversational Reading, the San Francisco Chronicle. And until he became too dismayed to continue, Ed would deliberate each week whether Sam Tanenhaus had earned his brownie for the New York Times Book Review.
But what of Playboy, you ask? Who has their eyes on Hef’s house? Enter the tireless Dan Wickett, who has selflessly volunteered to report in each month on the magazine’s literary offerings, including short stories and reviews. Dan reports that next month’s issue will have a new story from Robert Coover, and a story by Michelle Richmond has been accepted for future publication. Who knows, we could be going back to the days when people really did read it for the interviews.

I’m going to be giving Beaver Shot and Girls Over 40 the same treatment–watch for it.

Babe, I was counting on you for “Jugs.” I hear they’re doing a serial of, wait for it, Philip Roth’s The Breast.
You know, all those kids who went ahead and graduated out of elementary school don’t know what they’re missing …
